Do you want to know how to make money online? In this short article, we will discuss a few ways you can start to earn a few pounds extra or even £1000 or £5000 per month.
I am on the journey too, and keen to make at least £2000 a month extra so I could move to another country to enjoy the fruits of my hard work.
I guess you also want to be a “millionaire” by the age of x. Well, it takes hard work. My goal is to reach a comfortable income online, so I can boost my chances in life.
Let’s get started and see 6 ways to make money online.
1. Start a Blog/Niche Website
This is one of the most popular ways to make money online, but it takes a lot of time, especially if you are new to the game. Websites need constant work and good planning, and if you are lucky you can get enough visitors after 5-6 months when it’s out of Google’s Sandbox.
However, by creating a good quality website you can easily monetise it in multiple ways. Starting with affiliate marketing, displaying advertisements, doing partnerships or even selling guest posts. You create a place where people would like to read your content, be it a niche website which focuses on a specific topic or a publisher which creates articles about multiple topics. The choice is yours.

2, Start a YouTube Channel
There are plenty of YouTube channels out there which focus on specific topics. These can be faceless ones, where you don’t show your face, or one where you can create your brand.
It depends on you, which you like more and what skills you can show. In the past weeks, I came across some good SEO channels on YouTube where some just share their screen to teach (and sell), and some, where they build a personal brand (and sell).
Once your channel reaches the minimum requirements for monetisation, you can start earning money from your content.
3, Start a TikTok, Instagram Channel
This could be similar to starting a YouTube channel, but TikTok and Instagram mainly focus on shorter content while on YouTube you should create longer videos. They both work, the only thing is to know which one is more comfortable for you.
On Instagram, you can also do photo posts, but recently Reels tend to do better, they reach more people so you have a better chance of monetising your channel once you reach the requirements.
The good thing with social media is that you can do partnerships, and promote stuff (yours or others), so you can build multiple income streams in one go.
4, Tutoring, Coaching
As a native speaker of any language, you can teach, and tutor online. There are plenty of websites where you can register and have clients. One of the hidden gems is Duolingo, where you can create lessons for beginners. You can have free classes and paid ones too. Even if you set your price to £5 per student for a group lesson you can easily have 5-10 students in your lessons per hour. That’s £25-£50 per hour. Do this for a week, one hour per day and you can make £175-£350 a week.
If you have other good skills, you can coach people individually. Some of these coaching prices can be very vary depending on the skills. A good SEO mentor can earn at least £30-£50 per hour.
5, Be a Virtual Assistant
The next item on our make money online post is being a Virtual Assistant. This became very popular because of Tim Ferris, who in his 4-hour workweek book promoted the idea of virtual assistants. He has hired some skilled and less skilled assistants from other timezones so they would work for him, or prepare his tasks for him by the time he wakes up. He outsourced his tasks for a cheap service.
Fast forward a few years, now we can see a boom in the VA space. It is getting very popular in the US and the U.K. too, so I am sure if you have good organising skills you can find some clients. If you are just starting out you can go into small business Facebook groups and offer your help. There will be sole traders, small business owners or even other freelancers who might need a hand with some tasks.
6, Sell Stuff on eBay
Last, but not least if you don’t have any skills that can make money online, you can still sell your unused stuff on eBay. I know this sounds the least fun, but there are plenty of stories on the internet where people made plenty of money by just selling stuff.
There was also a challenge where someone started with a paperclip and finished with a house. This is amazing if you ask me.
